We left Pennington on September 24 and drove the rental car to New York City and checked in the Ameritania Hotel where several of friends were staying. We explored the city some, ate lunch at the Tavern on the Green in Central Park (which we found was closing at the end of the year,) road the subway, went to the new Yankee Stadium and watched the Red Sox lose to the Yankees, and went to the top of the Empire State Building at night.
