Istanbul is a big, bustling city. We docked on the European side and by tour boat, explored both sides of the Bosphorus Channel which separates the city and the two continents, Europe and Asia. You really get a feel for why Turkey is such an important American ally with that narrow strip of water access to the Black Sea.
The next day we toured both sides by bus, stopping at the Blue Mosque, drove by Ayia Sofia Cathedral, over the Bosphorus on a suspension bridge similar to the Golden Gate and went shopping at the Grand Bazaar! The latter turned costly with a beautiful Turkish Rug (what would YaYa say?) heading to Brookings.
Mykonos was our next stop and while interesting found we didn't love it. Kusadsi, and Ephesus, back in Turkey the next day was quite interesting too, and darn, they tried to sell us another carpet, but enough already!
Today, beautiful Santorini. Especially Oia, pronounced ee-a. What views! 77 degrees and sunny. Too bad we couldn't stay there longer!
