Summer going bye-bye?

We've been home in Brookings, more or less, since May 22. Still haven't gotten used to how much the length of daylight varies through the year here. In December it is as little as 9 hours and 7 minutes. In June it gets up to 15 hours and 15 minutes. Now it is rapidly shortening and is currently 13:19 which is almost two less hours than two months ago which really gives you the feeling that fall is almost here.

This is in contrast to my hometown of Santa Barbara which varies from 9:51 to 14:28 and currently 13:01 hours. When I am really aware of it is at sundown. In Santa Barbara in June the latest sunset is at 8:15pm while in Brookings it is at 8:57pm.

After returning home we have settled into our routine which includes Helga playing bridge on a regular basis and me chugging down to the harbor and back up Benham Lane hill with friend Jim using our Nordic walking sticks five days a week.

The jet boats race on by.....
We did go on an RV outing to Winchester Bay RV Resort with Elwyn and Judy with time in Florence and Coos Bay (North Bend) and had a good time. Nick, Judy and Zoe stopped for a visit on their way to Seattle which was great!

Recently we finally made it back to one of our favorite "camping" spots, on the north bank of the Rogue River, at Four Seasons RV Resort for a week or so of sunny 75 degree weather. We caught up with many friends that we have made there over the years including Bonnie and Carl, Larry and Gina, Wayne and Barbara, Dawna and Bob .......

Steph, Kevin and Erin flew into Medford from New Jersey and rafted down the Rogue from the Grants Pass area.  We picked them up at Foster Bar and we all came home for a several days together which was great too!

We plan on being home most of the time until early November when we have plans to go to Kauai for two weeks.  Shortly after returning we plan on heading South for the Winter.  Yes, we are Snowbirds!!!!
