Lone Pine Campsites

After our stay of one night at the Sturgeon Falls KOA, Sturgeon Falls, Ontario we continued through the province and stopped on 7/15 at the KOA, in Renfrew.  The owner was a very interesting lady who, surprisingly, had a big interest in US politics and shared her views quite emphatically.

The next day we crossed over the St. Lawrence River at Cornwall back into the USA and drove to the Lone Pine Campsites in Colchester, VT which is just five miles north of Burlington.  We had been in Burlington three years ago as part of a trip with Santa Barbara friends.  We stayed at the Lang House B&B then, not the Lone Pine Campsites!  We discovered American Flatbreads then and had a return visit this time.  Still excellent!  We stayed in Colchester for six days relaxing, finding some other good places to eat(!) and took a rainy day drive to Stowe which included going through Waterbury, home of Ben & Jerry's, but we didn't stop!

On the 22nd we drove the short distance into New Hampshire to Twin Mountain Motor Court & RV Park in Twin Mountain.  Actually not a bad park located near many points of interest including Franconia Notch, the site where Old Man in the Mountain was, etc.  Also, real close to Polly's Pancake Parlor where we waited one and a half hours for breakfast on a return visit from many years ago, a not miss spot!

75 years, same family, great food!

After three days we ventured into Maine, stopping at the Palmyra Golf Course & RV Resort for three days.  Palmyra is half an hour west of Bangor, the biggest city in northern Maine (pop. 33,000).  No, we didn't play golf, and it rained quite a bit.

Today, 7/28 we drove to Bar Harbor Campground, just outside of Bar Harbor, near Acadia National Park.  And yes, it rained a lot today.  It hasn't felt much like the middle of summer the last week.  After getting situated we drove into town and had a great late lunch of lobster stew at the Side Street Cafe washed down with a great Baxter Stowaway IPA......
