We left Brookings on Tuesday, heading back to Santa Barbara for Helga's upcoming revision surgery. Taking our time, we took three days to travel the 700 miles. We stopped in Ukiah the first night, staying the the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds RV Park, which we decided fits into the "Been there, done that" category. We decided to eat dinner out and chose the Ukiah Brewing Co., a brewery serving expensive organic food. What an experience that was! I settled on organic fed beef hamburger for $8.95 and passed on the $3.50 french fries. Washed it down with their Pale Ale which was pretty good. Helga had a bratwurst and sauerkraut sandwich accompanied by "fried pickles."
On Wednesday we decided on a short day getting through the San Francisco Bay Area and stopping at Morgan Hill for the night so we could stock up with RV stuff at Camping World in San Martin which was about ten minutes away from Coyote Valley RV Resort where we stayed. This resort is about a year old and very nice.
Today we drove to Santa Barbara, stopping for fuel just south of King City. 65 gallons of diesel for only $329, ouch!
It feels funny being here, where I lived my entire life prior to a month ago.
