Definitely on the Road again....

We said goodbye to Santa Barbara today after turning the keys to our storage locker to our mover. We hooked up the CRV behind the SeeYa and said goodbye to the Elks Club, Santa Barbara and Goleta, not leaving on vacation but leaving to go to our new home in Brookings, Oregon.

On our travels today we were blessed by a chance meeting with our son, Nick. He called during the noon hour when we had stopped to grab some lunch. He had left Clovis early in the morning to check out some properties along US 101 from Salinas to Morgan Hill for his job as a Right of Way agent for CalTrans and knew that we would be heading up that way today. When he called he actually was only a few miles from us and we were able to hook up and spend some time together.

It was great seeing him and I can say it is one example that cell phones can really be useful. We never would have known we were so close together any other way.

An interesting thing is that we tried stopping at a Rest Area north of Paso Robles several miles earlier and since it was full we kept going until we pulled over on a wide shoulder on the 101. We couldn't stay there either because as we were stopping a CHP officer pulled up behind us and kindly suggested it would be safer to go a few miles up the road and use the offramp widespot. If we had stayed at the Rest Area it would have a long trip out of his way for Nick to meet with us.

Tonight we are at Coyote Valley RV and Golf Resort which is about 1 year old and very nice. It was laundry day though and that kept me from my Exerstrider walk. More about Exerstrider another time or check out www.exerstrider.com if you can't wait.
