Weather!!!!

We arrived in Big Timber, Montana late Friday afternoon and "set up camp" at Spring Creek Campground & Trout Farm.  We drove almost 400 miles today which is about double what we like to normally do.  Most of the drive was on I-90 and scenic especially at this time of the year when it is still very green.

On Saturday we met up with Bob and Mary Maida, sister and brother-in-law of our good friends, Joe and Fitzi Waters.  Bob, Joe and I along with another friend used to go to the Rams' games in the LA Coliseum back in the 60's!  We had season tickets in the closed end of the stadium that cost $2.50 each, can you believe it?!

It was so nice getting together with them, having lunch at the Timber Bar, when there was a street market in progress along with a parade to begin later as well as a Rodeo.  They then joined us at our "rolling home" in the RV park as we reminisced about old times and shared about families, traveling, sports, etc.  It was quite warm, near 90, so we sat inside with the A/C on.

A little while after they left it started clouding up and I decided to put the big awning away as well as the door awning and opened up the window awnings in case it rained and we wanted some windows open.  Well, part of that was a good plan but not all of it.

Shortly after getting inside the rig I noticed a severe weather warning on my phone which said there was a storm moving towards us at 40mph from about 30 miles away.  It has wind gusts up to 60mph, possibility of hail and heavy rain.  Well, imagine what it is like, when one minute it is very still and then all of a sudden, extremely strong winds start up, bending trees, throwing folding chairs down, buffeting the awnings so much that you would think they would rip off.  The calm view out our front window suddenly was in an upheaval and Helga was scared to death!


Then the rain came, at times, in sheets.  It rained heavily, with strong winds for quite awhile before it started letting up and finally stopped an hour or so after it started.  We've been in these storms before and it reminded us that we are now away from the West Coast earthquake zone and in the severe weather zone!

At least it cooled off for the evening and made sleeping very comfortable.

Today, Sunday, we took a ride to Livingston where we had brunch at the Sport Bar and Cafe followed by a tour of the Livingston Depot Museum which had nice displays of railroad memorabilia.  Nick Dumas, you need to check this out!  A nice ride on a beautiful day in Montana.

We too have been caught in severe weather in Montana - for us it was second week of June. We were camped in the south east part of Mt in a park with our awning on the west side of the rig. Sitting out enjoying the very pleasant afternoon when out of no where a wind came through and almost ripped the awning off the rig, tossed our chairs far a field and drove us into the rig which was rocking and rolling.
Then came the rain driven by the wind which continued for nearly four hours......When we left camp thenext morning (heading west) across Mt) we hit snow......Weather!
