Camden and Belfast

The trip to the Camden area from Boothbay was not a long one, about 45 minutes.  I won't know how to handle three or four hundred miles days when we start west again!

We stayed at Camden Hills RV Resort, which is in Rockport.  I overshot the entrance which caused us to drive about an extra four miles while finding a place where we could turn around our "train!"  Several RV Park reviewers have criticized this "resort" as not being a resort which is certainly true of many that use the name.  Our site was nice and maybe the park isn't a resort but it is okay.

Camden is just a couple miles away and we visited several times including a meal at Cappy's Chowder House.  We remember Cappy's from visits in the past but while the chowder was great the overall meal and experience were not as great as we remembered.  Helga checked out some stores while I relaxed and we also sat in the park by the harbor and enjoyed the beautiful day.

One day we drove back toward Boothbay Harbor and visited Damariscotta, a town that someone had told Helga was interesting.  While I sipped an Iced Mocha at the waterfront, Helga checked out some shops.  On the way back we hunted down Morse's Sauerkraut store in Waldoboro.  It was way off in the country by itself.  A German deli with many employees and obviously fresh goods, where do their customers come from???  We had noticed some of their products on restaurant menus in the surrounding area and they have been in business for many years.

On Wednesday, we drove another 40 minutes (long day!) to Belfast which is up the coast. We are staying at Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort with a wonderful view of the ocean from our site.  It is so nice here we are spending more time at the site but still exploring some.  Today we drove over an hour to have a Mexican dinner at a place, El El Frijole (LL Bean, get it!) in Sargentville, owned by some gringos that spent several years in Southern California.  It was a pleasant surprise.  Amazingly good, tamed down for Maine tastes, but still very good.  Halibut fish tacos were excellent!  We then checked out Blue Hill which was a cute town.

We'll probably stay at our site tomorrow before heading off to Bar Harbor on Sunday where we hope to get a RV site at the Bar Harbor Campground which doesn't take reservations!
