We left Mt. Desert Island and Steph's family on the 10th and started our trek West. We'll be traveling the way we don't like, pedal to the metal. Didn't plan this year very well. If we weren't scheduled to be flying to Europe in September, we would probably take another month or two meandering back home.
We stopped the first night in Littleton, Massachusetts at Minuteman Campground which is in the woods and used to be a KOA. Very tight maneuvering the 40' coach through those woods but we made it!
The second night, August 11 (Son-in-law Kevin's Birthday) found us in Pine Grove, PA at the Twin Grove Resort which is a KOA Kampground, probably the biggest one we've been too as far as area. Wide open sites which mean great satellite reception but no shade and it is starting to get warmer. There was a restaurant on the property and was quite full of us "campers!"
The third night, August 12 (Granddaughter Erin's 8th Birthday) found us in Ohio at Wolfie's Campground in Zanesville. Not sure about the name but didn't see any references to Mozart!
We then landed in Effingham, Illinois and stayed at Camp Lakewood which thankfully had really shady sites and we were willing to give up the satellite reception without an argument. It was in 100's and very high humidity which was uncomfortable to say the least.
The next day we made to Independence, Missouri and are staying downtown in the park at Campus RV Park. It is very convenient to restaurants, points of interest and even casinos in which someone was very interested. We had dinner at the Rheinlander which was very good with Helga getting Rouladin, although they called it Roulade and I had bratwurst/knackwurst mix. Topped with German beer and Black-forest cake! Well not together anyway!
